CX Huth and Gunda Timmel-Reitter

Lyrics M. Uth and H.C. Artmann

13. 4. – 27. 5. 11

Gunda Timmel-Reitter and CX Huth tell stories in their pictures and texts, which abduct us from the everyday grind into new perspectives (which could not be more different).

Gunda Timmel-Reitter demonstrates in her melancholy how colourful dark grey can be. In bizarre abstractions, the arts academy graduate and former editor of a publishing house indulges in the dramas of world literature. In doing so, she corrects the central message to give the core a crucial turn. The power of painting is, however, not only in the socially critical poetry, but also in the expressive way of painting. In doing so, she uses her fingers only to feel and suffer the often long process on her own skin. From the paintings that are painted over up to the plastic relief, she scratches, similar to H.C. Artmann, layers lying below so that they are partially free for then to paint over them again. As uncompromising as Gunda Timmel-Reitter works on the creation of her works, to inexhaustible do her stories open up to the observer.

Some of the most important representatives of the Berlin School were Christian Huth’s influential teachers. Influential in the sense that they accompanied him to the universe of untroubled possibilities of expression. CX, as Christian now calls himself, is at home in a progressive pop art. As such, no continuous style can be expected. His continuity is in permanent renewal. He wants to, must permanently surprise himself anew. From 13.4 to 27.5. he is showing pictures that are part of the picture book being created. Painting, drawings, collages and typography, which leave the usual picture boundaries, illustrate all too human, offbeat characters in eccentric urban landscapes and circus managers. He changes the ZS art KunstRaum into a three-dimensional picture book on the basis of texts passages from his brother.
